Tahuamanu’s” productive activities began in the early 1990s, however, in 1989 a group of business people arrived to Cobija, most of them belonging to the coffee sector, who decided to investigate and analyze the possibilities of settling in Cobija and venture into the Brazil-nut business.
Back then, most of the Brazil-nuts gathered in Cobija’s area of influence were exported as raw material to the city of Belém, Brazil. There was no capability in place to acquire all the Brazil-nuts that were being collected nor was there the necessary labor that could process the Brazil-nuts in Pando, particularly in Cobija. In this regard, investments were made on modern technologies and industrialized systems to process Brazil-nuts, and create job opportunities in the area.
HISTORY
The corporation was incorporated in 1989
by a group of 12 investors committed to the modernization of millennial and traditional forms of recollecting and industrializing the Brazil-nut.
A decision was made to build it in Bolivia’s most isolated and depressed area
Cobija, Pando, on the border with Brazil.
The company was funded
By the Inter-American Development Bank and contributions made by the shareholders.

In 1995, Tahuamanu was capitalized
by the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and the Fundacion Bolivia Exporta (FBE).

experienced executives and professionals.
